New Year Health Kick - Red Potion!

For the start of Dry January, we are going to be using recipes from Cassandra Reeder book, The Geeky Chef Cookbook and focusing solely on non-alcoholic beverages and what better way to start off the new year, than a classic red potion, which has been used in a variety of videos games for over the past 30 years, with the most well known ones being The Legend of Zelda, World of Warcraft, The Witcher and Skyrim. Red potions are typically used to restore a person’s health and this is just what the new year calls for after all the drinking and eating we have all done over the festive period, so throw away all that chocolate and get in all those veggies and get ready to make a red healing potion.

To make this recipe, it requires cranberry apple juice, frozen sweet dark cherries, frozen raspberries, frozen mango pieces, watermelon, minced ginger and red food dye (optional), which blend and serve. I had to do half apple half cranberry juice as I couldn’t find any cranberry apple juice, but everything else was easy to find.

I enjoyed making this recipe and I found it to be quite refreshing and just what I needed for the new year’s hangover I had. I know ginger isn’t to everyone’s tastes, so you could take it out and still enjoy it, but the ginger makes it tastes just that bit healthier. Overall, I recommend giving this recipe a go whenever you need a little health boost or stocking up ready for going into battle.
