The Platinum Road #6 - Winters’ Family Special (Resident Evil Village + Shadow of Rose DLC)

Resident Evil Requiem is done (until the DLC launches) so it’s time to look back and wrap up some of the older games in the series. We only need to go back one title to Village. Problem is, I only need one trophy so my solution (to get an article out of it) is to also include Shadow of Rose.

Stage 0.5: Walk down Mould Memory Lane

To reacquaint myself with Village before I dive into what I need to do, I thought a quick playthrough would help get the juices flowing. I like the game, but I think 7 is far better. I also forgot how annoying it is that nearly every Lycan attack is a grab with lengthy animations. The run was a flat 7:00 which was 5:46:41 IGT.

Stage 1: Fastest Gun in the South East

For some reason I had convinced myself that all I had left to S Rank was ‘The Factory’, however that is far from the truth - I had an SS in The Village, S in The Castle but only a B in The Factory. That meant that Mad Village and the Hard Mode for the each of the previous four.

Using Chris, Mad Village and Village II took a collective 1:45 but then Castle II on it’s own took 1:50, just the way things go with these. I was having fun with these honestly, the routes were also mostly devised by me so I’m proud of managing. The Mad Village II took just the one run of about 0:20 for the Platinum trophy!

Notice I missed The Factory II? That’s because my first lot of attempts took roughly 3 and a half hours. I think I quit to the dashboard about 5 times ready to snap my disc in half. That was a mix of Chris and Ethan but when I came back the next day with a new strategy, it was a warmup run and a successful run lasting just 0:15. Mad Village II was basically a victory lap.

Stage 1.5: When in Romania…

Despite a Mercenaries based trophy being the one holding me back from Platinum, there’s two trophies for it in the DLC. Apparently I already have ‘Village of Blood’ for Completing Bloody Village, just got to get ‘River of Blood’ for completing Bloody River.

I needed at least an S Rank in Bloody Village to unlock Bloody River. I only needed to beat Bloody River for the trophy but combined it was only 0:35. I can’t believe I’m saying it but I think I started to enjoy Mercenaries by this point.

Stage 2: Mold based Family Trauma

Our last two trophies are for crafting and beating the DLC on hard. Instead of doing a warmup run I just decided to jump straight into the Hardcore run. There’s not much challenging in the run rather the basic enemies are just really annoying and bullet spongey. Difficulty only really applies to the first half and final boss with the second half not being combat focused. My missing craft item was a Pipe bomb which I reloaded a save for after crafting to get my resources back. The run took 3:20 which was 2:17:16 IGT which was shorter than my first run interestingly enough.

Combined with the original playtime, it seems like my Platinum time was 51:40 and 100% with the DLC was 3:55. That’s two Resident Evil games done this year with a total of 6 out of 13! (With Remake, 0, Code Veronica, 5, 6, Revelations and Revelations 2 to go).
